The 2018 Toyota Highlander available in front and all-wheel-drive models, plus hybrid-powered editions, the Toyota Highlander is the stylish and comfortable SUV with room for up to eight, and technologies and amenities to make every trip a welcome prospect.
Inside, the Highlander cabin is designed to make every road trip a pleasant adventure, with room for seven or eight adults (depending on model and trim level). Front-row captain’s seats embrace the driver and navigator, while 60/40 split folding third-row seats maximize cargo space and versatility. All models are equipped with Display Audio systems featuring Bluetooth® connectivity for personal electronics, SIRI Eyes-Free, USB audio input, voice recognition, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, and more.
Conventionally-powered models are built featuring dual variable valve timing with intelligence and other technologies to maximize power and efficiency. This is paired with an eight-speed direct-shift automatic with transmission cooler, plus a heavy-duty battery, starter, alternator and heater for ultra reliable winter performance.
The Toyota Highlander is offered in front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive powertrains. All Highlanders are enhanced with Hill-start Assist Control, while all-wheel-drive models also feature the Active Torque Control System and Downhill Assist Control.
Highlander is a joy to drive, thanks to its highly responsive (and efficient) electric power steering, plus a double-wishbone rear suspension with trailing arms for a smooth, comfortable ride.
Highlander features an elegant new front and rear fascia design and LED head and tail lamps. Premium features include standard 18” chrome-clad or optional 19” black or dark chrome-clad alloys, and an available panoramic glass roof on Limited and Limited Hybrid.
The 7-passenger Highlander SE AWD package (available on the Highlander XLE) adds sporty and stylish features like 19” black alloy wheels, a sport grille, black roof rails, a sport interior trim upholstered in leather. Inside, you’ll find middle row captain’s chairs and ambient lighting. There are 5 exterior colours available, including Salsa Red Pearl - available exclusively on the SE package.
Available on XLE and Limited models (gas & hybrid) you can now change lanes with even more confidence. Blind Spot Monitoring detects when a vehicle has entered a blind spot on either side, then signals an alert if you attempt to change lanes. The Rear Cross Traffic Alert system detects vehicles approaching from the side using a millimetre wave radar sensor, and alerts the driver.
XLE and Limited Models include a remote-operated power rear door with jam protection. The rear door also includes flip up rear door glass with a sunshade. A tonneau cover is standard, to conceal your belongings in the cargo area.
Toyota’s renowned gas and electric HSD powertrain is standard on all Highlander Hybrid models. It includes exciting features like regenerative braking to recapture energy so you never have to plug in. A long battery life, and exceptional 8 year/160,000km hybrid component warranty also come standard.

The 2018 Highlander will come standard with Toyota Safety Sense P (TSS), a new multi-feature advanced safety package anchored by automated pre-collision braking. TSS bundles cutting edge safety technologies including Pre-Collision System (with Forward Collision Warning and automatic emergency brake), Lane Departure Alert, Automatic High Beams, Pedestrian Pre-Collision System and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.
The Pedestrian Pre-collision System (PCS) uses a camera and radar to detect objects ahead of the vehicle. When the system determines there is a possibility of collision it prompts the driver to brake with an audio and visual alert. If the driver notices the hazard and brakes, the system provides additional braking force. If the driver fails to brake in a set time, the system automatically applies the brakes, reducing speed in order to prevent or mitigate the collision.
Lane Departure Alert (LDA) uses a camera to detect visible lane markings. If the system determines that the vehicle is starting to deviate from the lane, LDA alerts the driver and will provide steering assist to help get the vehicle back into its lane.
Automatic High Beam (AHB) helps enhance forward visibility during nighttime driving. It uses a camera to detect the headlights of oncoming vehicles and the tail lights of vehicles ahead, and then automatically switches between high beams and low beams so as not to dazzle other drivers.
