Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada Celebrates 2-Millionth Lexus RX

CAMBRIDGE, Ontario, December 9, 2025 – Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada Inc. (TMMC) produced its 2 millionth Lexus RX in its South Plant late last week.

TMMC began assembling the Lexus RX in 2003. It was the first Lexus vehicle ever produced outside of Japan, a significant milestone for Toyota and a point of pride for TMMC. The plant has since added production of the Lexus NX, making TMMC the only manufacturing site outside of Japan to manufacture two Lexus vehicles.

The Lexus RX is the #1-selling vehicle in its segment and represents 32% of Lexus sales in Canada. Since start of assembly in 2003, TMMC has provided over 145,000 Lexus RX for the Canadian market. In 2024, TMMC assembled 94.2% of all RX sold in Canada.

“The Lexus RX continues to be a favourite among drivers across North America, and we thank our team members for their skill, dedication, and commitment to craftsmanship, which ensure every vehicle meets the highest standards of luxury and quality,” stated Tim Hollander, President of TMMC.

TMMC has earned 23 plant quality awards since 1991, many for its Lexus RX production. Today, TMMC is Canada’s largest automaker, operating two production lines in Cambridge and a third in Woodstock that, together, employ more than 8,500 people.
